Your Heart’s Treasures
Do you often feel as though the worries and sorrows you carry in your heart leave no room for “roses of happiness” and “sweet memories”? What if you could share the tension and sadness with Mother Mary and ask her to carry them with you? Maybe they would shrink and make room again for joy and peace and the sweet memories would more easily remembered. Our hearts are golden treasure chests that do hold both joy and sorrow, anxiety and peace. We can tend to focus so much on the sorrow and anxiety that we become blind to the joy and peace. Creating an image of the treasure chest of your heart with this quote can be a reminder to think about whatever is “true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, commendable, worthy of praise…” (see Philippians 4:8)
To complete this activity:
Draw or find a coloring page of an open treasure chest.
Write this quote or a Bible verse or your own thought on the treasure chest.
Decorate your treasure chest and then cut it out and paste in your art journal.
